To talk to an audience is never easy. Even when your in a band saying hello to the audience between songs can feel awkward, so the thought of speaking solo was pretty intimidating for me, but I just thought I couldn’t not go through with a challenge just because I felt scared. So I did the next best thing and turned up pretending it wasn’t happening to me.

We arrived in the middle of nowhere after a long drive and I was blown away by the incredible speakers and personalities there, all in the middle of this stunning forest in epic big comfy natural lookin tents, with good food, friendly faces and tasty beer, it was at times revolutionary and truly inspiring.

I was dead nervous when suddenly it dawned on me I still had to speak, I felt like a bit of a fish out of water and pretty much had no idea what to do really.
Ended up frantically scribbling some notes and ideas on my phone before my slot, but was just honest once up there and bumbled and mumbled through some of my stories, talking about things I believe in and have lived through, which is all anyone can do I guess.

It was actually a cool experience, I felt really welcome, supported, and I was touched by how cool everyone was putting up with my jibberish.

Thanks to the Do Lectures for having us at their incredible event, and to Rivie, Beansprout and Lloyd who came along and held my hand, love you.
